Mood

Capstone Project

Direction | Illustration | Animation
An animation that encourages people to feel good in the moment by observing their thoughts and feelings without judgement.

Problem Space

Meditation can seem unattainable and unfamiliar, despite its growing popularity and known benefits. It is challenging to start a practice and even more difficult to maintain one. Meditation classes and apps can serve many people who are seeking these benefits, but those methods also perpetuate the idea that meditation is complicated and that we need assistance to have a proper practice. Practicing meditation on our phones can also further the compulsive distraction that we face in our generation.

Project poster

For my exhibition at DAAPworks, I designed a poster to invite and inform my audience about the project.

Mood stickers were scattered onto my project table for viewers to take home, as a reminder that a better mood is always available to them.

Solution

Mood removes the pressure of forming a meditation habit or relying on technology, by demonstrating the act of simple observation to achieve mindfulness. This observation will lead to an understanding of how we can find balance throughout our day. By letting go of thoughts or feelings that do not serve us, we are able to focus on the moment, which will allow us to feel more ease and edge throughout the day.
