STORYBOARD
Storyboarding (Reverse) | Illustration
Hand-painted storyboard illustrating Guillermo del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth: Pale Man Scene. An exploration of thumbnail images to depict a motion scene through individual frames. A series of 15 frames, each 2.5 by 5 inches. Acrylic and gesso on cardboard.
The reversal of the storyboard process offered insight into the exploration of expression and thoughtful inclusion of details to convey meaning and narrate an escalation of emotion within the story.

Process
The first round of thumbnail sketching included 130 frames of the scene. This phase decided the level of detail to be included in each frame. The sketches were used to create multiple iterations of storyboards by arranging individual frames into variations of the chronological structure.
